Over Halloween weekend (Halloween on a Monday is brutal!), I threw a Halloween party at my house with a close friend. We had a blast. After everyone left the both of us, still quite intoxicated, tackled the clean up. It's 3am. Who thinks about cleaning up a mess at 3am? When we were done cleaning up the mess, I somehow managed to remember to not only wash my face, but to put on my moisturizer and face oil. Like for real, I amazed myself the next morning. And this got me thinking about how habitual some routines become and how that translates over to being a more successful adult.
I'm not saying these are the only ways to be more successful in your twenties, but these are my methods for my own personal adult successes (such as always washing my face before bed even when I'm too drunk to put on pajamas).
Go to bed at a consistent time every night. Yes you read that right. Gone are the days when pulling an all-nighter is fine because you can nap later the next day. You can't nap at an 8-5 job (but come on, a corporate nap room would be amazing right?!). With a more regular job schedule comes the necessity to have a more regular sleep schedule. I'm not kidding this seriously helps to keep you from feeling sluggish the next day. Do your thing on the weekend though, this is supposed to be the time of our lives right?
Meal plan and prep on Sundays. I know, I know, it's hard to motivate yourself to do anything on Sunday's, but trust me come Wednesday when you're in the middle of a busy work week you'll want a nice healthy meal ready to go in the fridge. Otherwise you're ordering takeout again and you'll be wondering why you never have any money. Good for the budget, good for the body! Plus if you have a meal plan for the week, it'll make grocery shopping easier because you'll know what you need to buy to make each meal. It might be beneficial to you to stock your pantry with some staples as well.
Create a good skincare routine and make it a habit. No exceptions. Making your skincare a habit might just help prevent a breakout from all that greasy food and beer you drank/ate that night. Winning! While we're at it, start buying the correct products for your skin. It might be worth while to visit a skin care therapist who can help you determine what products are best for your skin type.
Sign up for workshops and webinars specific to your field or area of interest. I went to the Bloguettes workshop here in Chicago about a month ago and learned so much about social media and blogging, that I really feel a lot more prepared for my current position and future endeavors in the digital realm. These events can be a great place to network with like-minded individuals and who knows when those connections might come in handy. Most webinars have a little chat section where you can get connected as well. These events will help you so much in your professional career, why not take advantage of them?
